1. What We Collect

Your account: first name, last name, username, email address, and a profile photo if you choose to add one.

Your Snaps: the photo, the exact coordinates you place it at, the name of the place, a caption if you write one, whether you marked it private, and the date you posted it. We also make a smaller copy of each photo so the map can load quickly.

What you do here: Snaps you like, accounts you follow or ask to follow, accounts you block, reports you send us, and your notification settings.

Who you look up: when you search for another user, we record which account you opened and when, so the search panel can show your recent searches. You can delete any entry from that list yourself.

Technical: session cookies that keep you signed in, and a count of how often you post, which is how posting limits are enforced.

2. Who Can See Your Snaps

You need an account to open the map at all. Nothing you post is visible to the general public or to search engines.

Beyond that, a Snap is visible to every signed-in user unless you mark the Snap private, or make your whole profile private — in which case only followers you have approved can see it. Blocking someone hides your Snaps from them and theirs from you.

The coordinates you place a Snap at are stored and shown exactly. Anyone who can see the Snap can see precisely where it was placed. Please think twice before posting from your home, your workplace, or anywhere else you would rather not have pinpointed — and remember the same applies to other people who appear in your photographs.

3. How We Use It

To run the service: to sign you in, to draw your Snaps on the map, and to show you the people and posts you have chosen to follow or like.

To keep it safe: every photo is scanned automatically before it is published, reports are reviewed, and posting limits are applied.

To contact you: to confirm your email address, to reset your password, and to confirm a deletion request. We do not send marketing email.

4. Who Else Handles Your Data

We do not sell your data. These services process it on our behalf, each seeing only what it needs:

• Supabase — stores your account, your Snaps, and everything else described above.
• Netlify — serves the site, and therefore sees the IP address of each request.
• Sightengine — receives each photo and profile picture in order to scan it before publication.
• Esri (ArcGIS Location Platform) — provides the map background; your browser requests map tiles from them directly, so they see your IP address and the part of the world you are looking at.
• Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation) — when you search for a place while posting, the text you type is sent to them to be turned into coordinates.
• Resend — delivers the emails described above.

5. Deleting Your Account

You can delete any Snap at any time from the map, and you can delete your whole account from Settings — you do not need to ask us.

Deleting the account starts a seven day wait, and we email you a link that cancels it. This exists so that a deletion made in anger, or by someone who got hold of your session, can still be undone. After seven days the account and its Snaps are removed permanently and cannot be recovered.

We keep one record afterwards: that an account with your email address was deleted, and when. It is what stops a deleted account being silently recreated and what lets us answer you if you later ask what happened. It contains nothing else.

6. Cookies

The only cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and there is nothing here to track you across other websites.
